Pai

Pai

A bamboo bridge across the fields to a temple.

Pai

It's endless mountains in this part of the country.

Pai

Lots of big fish! This river flows out from a cave and the fish swim into the cave too.

Pai

There were hundreds of them in there.

Pai Canyon is a popular spot in Pai and it was pretty cool.

Pai
Nam Lod Cave

We did a little tour through this huge cave which was cool but also a bit gross as it was full of bats and swallows and a lot of droppings.

Pai

Weird popcorn like formations in the cave.

Pai

First smoothie bowl for a little while.

Pai is a little town a few hours from Chiang Mai that we both kept hearing about, and it was along our route back from Mae Hong Son so we decided to spend a few nights. I was a bit surprised by how little there actually was to do there. It's set in a nice valley surrounded by forest and mountains but there's not much in the way of nature activities. There was nice restaurants at least but generally I wouldn't recommend it.

We got unlucky with our accommodation here as we decided to splurge a little for a place with a nice pool. After arriving, being told the pool opening and closing times, and paying, we then were told that no actually the pool is closed.

We had big thunderstorms each night which were fun to watch. At some points there was almost constant flashing from all directions.
